Work Experience placement helps student secure permanent position in Finance

Posted on 7th June 2019

The Finance team at Lincoln County Hospital have appointed a new Payments Assistant and were delighted to welcome a past work experience student into the team.

Sally-Ann Scaife secured this position shortly after completing a five-day work experience placement in March and started her employment with United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust in May.

Speaking to the Talent Academy who arranged the work experience placement, Sally-Ann said: “The work experience was great and it was key to giving me confidence in my chosen field.”

“It helped me with the interview as I knew about the department and the tasks that were involved and it gave me some experience to talk about directly in the field I was looking to change to.”

“I have had great feedback from lots of people in finance who have told me they were really pleased I got my role as I really stood out on my work experience and I had shown a lot of interest and enthusiasm, which was great to hear.”

Diane Wilkinson, Purchase to Payment Manager, who supervised Sally-Ann during her work experience placement has said the placement “gives a taste of a typical day in Finance and an insight to the opportunities that could be of interest to anyone who is wishing to start a career in Finance in the NHS.”

The Talent Academy would like to thank Diane in her continued support of work experience within Finance and we wish Sally-Ann all the best with her new role.
