The pharmacy departments provide a comprehensive range of services with the overall aim of ensuring that medicines are used in the most effective and appropriate way, with the right medicine being given to the right patient at the right time.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust’s pharmacies provide services to inpatients and outpatients within the hospitals. There are also dispensaries and clinical pharmacists who provide a clinical pharmacy service to individual patients on the wards.
LOCATION: Pharmacy can be accessed via the entrance to Outpatients from the main car park, take the first left turn of 'Corridor B'.
Whilst on placement students will assist and observe various Pharmacy staff in order to gain an appreciation of their daily duties and the unit’s specialities. Tasks may include:
•Observe and assist staff with pharmacy aspects of patient care
•Working in dispensary with different pharmacy staff, observing the receipt of prescriptions, both hand delivered and electronic, and how they are recorded, tracked and programmed through the department.
