Our new talent schemes could kick start your future career!

TAKE YOUR FIRST STEP INTO THE NHS AS A NURSING CADET APPRENTICE

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Nursing Cadet Apprentices to join our Talent Pool at Lincoln and Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.

As a Talent Pool Apprentice, you will embark on a comprehensive 15-month training programme working towards your Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 apprenticeship.

Designed in partnership with the Lincolnshire Talent Academy, the programme provides the foundation skills and competencies for individuals with no prior experience, from which to commence a career within health and care.

The Nursing Cadet programme provides the first step onto our Nursing Workforce Development Pathway, offering fully supported training from Nursing Cadet, with opportunities for onward development through to Registered Nurse and beyond, subject to performance and availability.

The Opportunity

Our Nursing Cadet Talent Pool Apprenticeship programme is offered as a 15-month, full-time, fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and offers a fantastic opportunity for ambitious individuals to begin their career within the NHS.

Our Cadets shall work under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Senior Healthcare Professional, and shall work with members of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the highest standards of care to our patients, delivered with dignity, respect and compassion. With opportunities across various wards and operating theatres, each Cadet will be allocated to a specific area for the duration of their 15-month programme.

Full on and off-the-job training will be provided throughout the duration of the programme, ensuring you have the skills and knowledge to carry out well-defined routine clinical duties like monitoring an individual’s conditions (by checking things like blood pressure, temperature or weight), checking on their overall progress, comfort and well-being.

Supervision and support (direct and indirect) will be provided during the apprenticeship, with progression being dependent on the completion of set objectives throughout the programme. This will enable the apprentice to work within the organisation to gain confidence, experience and build a portfolio of evidence for apprenticeship accreditation.

Upon achievement of the Cadet programme, all apprentices shall be supported through a guaranteed interview for a permanent Healthcare Support Worker position within the Trust, aiding them to take their next step within the development pathway.

Onwards Progression

Whilst it cannot be guaranteed, it is our experience that the majority of our Nursing Cadet Apprentices are successful in gaining permanent employment within the Trust from month 9 onwards of the programme, moving into Healthcare Support Worker positions.

Entry Criteria

Our Entry Level Cadet programme has been designed to assist candidates with no prior experience to take their first step onto the career ladder, and to develop their skills and competencies during the programme. As such, we’re looking for individuals with the enthusiasm, desire and passion to work within our hospitals and to provide the very best care to our patients.
